Instead, we sought to satisfy a craving for comfort food. We ate chicken fingers and macaroni & cheese, topped off with a slice of sweet potato pie.
And it was really good. Like, really good.
About now you might be asking yourself, "How can a diner go wrong with chicken fingers and mac & cheese?" Fair question, and it's true - you are unlikely to receive bad chicken fingers and mac & cheese at a diner.
But our Toomey's experience today was exceptional. The chicken fingers were crisp, lightly seasoned and pretty much perfect. And the mac & cheese was some of the best ATP has ever had, better than the larkish mac & cheese at some fancypants bistros. The sweet potato pie was light, creamy and flavorfull.
So, if you're like us and you only associate Toomey's with eggs, we urge you to break out of that mold. Ask for the "Across the Park Special," and enjoy the blank stare!
