Big Bust at Papas

Photo_10Looks like there was some sort of bust at Papas & Sons on Wednesday afternoon.  Word on the street is that someone in there was running numbers - which is a gambling/lotto ring typically associated with organized crime.

We asked one of the check out girls what happened - she said she did not know, which is pretty doubtful, though not surprising that she didn't want to call out anyone's illegal business.

No word on whether owner was involved.  The place is still open, so probably not.

There was a numbers bust on this block a couple years ago at a different storefront.

Running numbers games is pretty common around here. It appears the police bust it up and then it moves somewhere else nearby.

"I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on here".

Anyone know what is going on in Patio Gardens? I've come home a number of times to find cops in the building, at least 2 or 3 standing outside 590. Then leven more sometimes up to a dozen cops hanging out just outside the entrance on Flatbush?

Patio has a lot of noise problems, some domestic disturbance problems and some drug problems.

But most of the tenants are good folk.
